Trend Micro testing new antivirus for Windows Mobile

by Nikola Strahija on June 1st, 2005 Trend Micro is signing up testers for the next version of its mobile antivirus - Trend Micro Mobile Security (TMMS) 2.0

It continues support for Windows Mobile 2003/2003SE for Smartphone and Windows Mobile 2003/2003SE for PocketPC Phone Edition. Users interested in testing should visit Trend Micro homepage to sign up to beta test TMMS 2.0.

Trend Micro has also launched a virus encyclopedia intended for mobile device screens. It shows virus information affecting handheld devices as well as general virus outbreaks that might affect PCs. What is "new" in this resource is its comprehensiveness along with the design for microbrowsers.

Trend Micro has decided to extend TMMS 1.x to the end of September to facilitate the transition in a smooth fashion. Extending TMMS 1.x requires no changes on the part of existing users - it will happen automatically when subscribers update their pattern files over the air (OTA) in late May or June. TMMS 1.x will cease functioning at the end of September 2005, by which time users will have had adequate time to migrate to TMMS 2.0. TMMS 2.0 will have a price associated with it and will be available through your favorite online webstores. Trend Micro will be updating its websites shortly with the new TMMS 1.x expiry date and new TMMS 1.x executables.
