New MS exploits

by Nikola Strahija on July 26th, 2006 FIRST and Symantec have reported two new exploits for vulnerabilities already patched with this month's Microsoft patch bundle.

The first exploit uses a vulnerability in Windows DHCP client, while the second one exploits the mailslot component of Windows. The mailslot exploit is apparently possible even if the patch is applied, so Microsoft is working on and update. Microsoft states that no reports of successful exploit were announced, but that it is researching the exploits.

Although a lot of already patched vulnerabilities are being used to gain unauthorized access to private and corporate computers, users are still slow with applying patches. All three companies urge users to patch as soon as patches are available.
