Million Dollar Home Page under DDoS

by Nikola Strahija on January 15th, 2006 It seems like the media coverage of Million Dollar Home Page brought the site much more than pixel buyers alone. The site's hosting company announced MDHP is coming under intense DDoS (distributed denial of service) attack.

Although traffic was hightened due to media enhanced interest, late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning the DDoS attacks started.

Officials from InfoRelay, hosting the site, met to figure out what they could do to stem the attacks within the constraints of Tew's service package.

Administrators implemented several proprietary internal techniques to slow and alleviate the effects. The attacks are coming from computers worldwide, including the U.S., Europe and Asia, security experts over at InfoRelay suspect it to be the work of a botnet.
