World Cup worm again
by Nikola Strahija on June 21st, 2006 The first World Cup worm speaking English has hit the net, luring its victims through e-mails with bombastic subject lines.
'Soccer fans killed five teens', 'Naked fans hit the game' and similar subject lines in English are used to lure unsuspecting users to click on the e-mail attachment. Once they do, some kind of an image appears, which is in fact a malicious worm that gets installed at that moment.
The worm, named Sixem-A, will disable the anti-virus software an try to download more hazardous material from the internet. The last thing the worm does is to send itself on every and each e-mail contact in the address book of the infected computer.
The worm has been added to anti-virus definitions of all better known antivirus product vendors just recently.
