Windows XP Redirector buffer overflow

by Mario Miri on April 4th, 2003 Microsoft Windows XP Redirector has a problem with managing parameters passed. It is possible to overflow a buffer which may result in program crash or code execution with elevated privileges.


Vulnerable:
Microsoft Windows XP 64-bit Edition
Microsoft Windows XP 64-bit Edition SP1
Microsoft Windows XP Home
Microsoft Windows XP Home SP1
Microsoft Windows XP Professional
Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP1

Solution:
Patches are available from official Microsoft site.
Users are advised to update their systems using the
"Windows update" feature.
