The fake Interpol site

by Nikola Strahija on August 1st, 2006 Web fraudsters have developed a legitimate looking fake Interpol website in order to execute a large number of scams.

Security experts state that the fake Interpol site is the best fake site they've ever seen. They presume that web fraudsters have managed to steal over 200 MB of Interpol original content and put together a website of outstanding resemblance on a server in China, with a domain interpolglobal.com. The physical location of the server will make it even more difficult to take the site down.

After learning about this, Interpol released this warning: "If you receive an email from someone claiming to be from Interpol, with a message asking you to transfer money to an account, or saying that Interpol is required to intervene in any large sums of money being transferred, treat it as a fake message."
