Serious Symantec flaw unpatched

by Nikola Strahija on May 26th, 2006 eEye computer security company warns of a dangerous flaw in Symantec anti-virus product, which the Symantec company fails to patch since Wednesday when the flaw was first reported.

-A remotely exploitable vulnerability exists within the Symantec Antivirus program. This flaw does not require any end user interaction for exploitation and can compromise affected systems, allowing for the execution of malicious code with SYSTEM level access, says the advisory on eEye website.

According to eEye, all Symantec Antivirus from version 10. are vulnerable, as well as Symantec Client Security software from version 3. Security experts fear that this serious bug will be patched as late as a month or two from now.
