New Trojan on the loose
by Nikola Strahija on April 28th, 2006 The Troj/Ransom-A takes hold of the computer and demands ransom in order to release files.
When a user gets infected, his OS halts and a ransom message is displayed. It says that files will be deleted every half hour until the victim pays $10.99 through Western Union.
The remedy is to keep your anti-virus tools updated and don't download suspicious content from the web.
Computer security company Sophos is further investigating the Trojan, especially the way it spreads. Only Windows machines are vulnerable.
