New Microsoft update makes Windows incompatible

by Nikola Strahija on July 29th, 2006 Security vendors are complaining that the newest Microsoft security patch will make it almost impossible for them to install and run their products.

The Kernel Patch Protection, to be shipped with Windows Vista is going to complicate other security products, reports Agnitum, a security vendor. As it explains, the patch locks out rootkits by restraining approach to kernel, effectively solving the rootkit problem but also making it impossible for legitimate security products to use kernel.

Agitum also suggested that there's a chance Microsoft did this on purpose.
