Netilla's v4 security appliance

by Nikola Strahija on May 21st, 2003 Netilla Netoworks announced enhancements to it's SSL VPN appliances, making them more flexible. Unlike IPSec VPN, SSL VPN usage requires no end-user configuration.

Netilla's features augment existing ability to provide clientless browser-based remote access to server-based application running on a mainframe, whether it's UNIX, Linux or Microsoft Windows server.

Version 4 has two new capabilities that should be mentioned. Secure access to the enterprise intranet and Web applications via an HTTP reverse proxy, and desktop client/server application access via Netilla's Virtual Adapter. The Virtual Adapter provides the ability to exchange data with central servers from any PC-based applications trough an SSL tunnel.

According to META group, SSL based products will occupy 80% of the remote access market by 2005/06.

Netilla's Security Platform, version 4 will be available worldwide in June, while suggested end-user prices start at $10,000 for the B-class, $30,000 for the E-class and $65,000 for the new G-class platform.
