Microsoft patches the Tuesday patch

by Nikola Strahija on February 17th, 2006 After some users reported that they were unable to install the patch for TCP/IP vulnerability, Microsoft had to patch the patch.

Microsoft published the new patch on its website saying it was altered to give additional installation instructions. The company said the problem did not affect the content of the security patch itself.

Microsoft said that shortly after the release of the patch on Feb. 14, the company realized that the fix was not working properly when installed alongside its ITMU (Inventory Tool for Microsoft Updates) using its Automatic Updates, Windows Update, Windows Server Update Services and Systems Management Server 2003 management features.

Users who are subscribed to Automatic Updates will receive the corrected patch automatically. Microsoft also advised that IT administrators using its Windows Server Update and Systems Management Server 2003 services that had synchronized their systems to install the updates before 8:30 p.m. PST should manually synchronize their servers and approve the new updates.
