Mgetty caller ID buffer overflow

by Mario Miri on April 14th, 2003 A problem exists in mgetty when handling long caller ID strings. Due to the programming error this may be exploited for denial of service attacks or remote buffer overflow attacks.

mgetty 1.1.25
mgetty 1.1.26
mgetty 1.1.27
mgetty 1.1.28


Solution:
RedHat has released patches for rpm packets. Upgrade is available to 1.1.29 or higher version which are not vulnerable.
