Gluing up USB ports

by Nikola Strahija on July 4th, 2006 Australians have devised a new security measure to protect business networks against data theft from within: system admins are gluing up USB ports, news.com.au reports.

Although many companies have forbidden the use of portable storage devices, the Australian business community still suffers a financial loss of over $2 million due to confidential information theft.

Security experts warn that USB memory sticks are not the only part of the problem, because iPods and mobile phones both have enough storage to steal wanted data. Reports of sys admins gluing USB ports to prevent access and data theft sound silly, but are true, news.com.au states.
