FBI starts Operation Identity Shield

by Ivana Strahija on August 4th, 2006 The FBI has launched it's new operation to help the online community as well as internet service providers, security vendors and technology producers to lower the rate of phishing and online fraud.

Although the Operation Indentity Shield started only recently, security experts are giving it their thumbs up, and report of a few successful arrests as a result. This operation follows in the footsteps of some other well aimed FBI actions, such as the Slam spam and the Digital PhishNet. The details about this new action are soon to be disclosed.

Many companies are very willing to back the FBI on the new incentive. The DigitalPhish net employed over 50 experts from software vendors (like Microsoft and Verisign), IT providers (like AOL), bank experts and other law enforcement agencies.
