CLA-2002:540-Conectiva Linux Security Announcement - heartbeat

by Nikola Strahija on November 7th, 2002 Heartbeat[1] is a basic high availability system component for linux. Nathan Wallwork reported several format string vulnerabilities[2] in heartbeat that could possibly be used by a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code with root privileges.

SOLUTION
It is recommended that all heartbeat users upgrade their packages.

IMPORTANT: if the service is already running, it is necessary to
manually restart it after the upgrade. To do so, please execute the
following as root:

service heartbeat restart
